Studs Terkel – ‘master chronicler of American life in the 20th century’ has died. His obituary in the Guardian is here. Earlier this year I read And They All Sang, which gathers many of the conversations with musicians which Terkel conducted on his Chicago radio programme. Among the highlights: Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Louis Armstrong and Dizzy Gillespie.

- Studs On A Soapbox: this 30 minute film contains footage of Terkel from the 1950’s to 2000, when he was 89 years old. Terkel expounds on various topics such as work, art, media, himself, his political views, his family, and his colleagues.
