The people’s launch event kick-started a year-long programme of more than 350 events, many of which will be free and are set to attract an extra two million visitors to the city. The People’s Opening took place in front of St George’s Hall. At 20:08, the artists and people of the city gathered together for an extraordinary performance from the rooftops surrounding Lime Street.
